History

Date of Birth: June 30th, 1987
Home: Stueng Saen, Kampong Thom Province, Khmer
Family: Khat Rangsei and Veata (parents), Khemera (older brother)
Kun Shou: Personal Tragedy (Kanya was born poor in an impoverished river port town in Cambodia; as she hit adolescence, the small town was big enough to host a couple street gangs, forcing her and her brother to toughen up and seek training from a bokator master in the area; but the gangs started clearing out residents block by block, so when they reached the Khats' home, she and her brother fought, but they were both cut down by machetes, and their parents murdered, too; she was rushed to Phnom Penh some three hours away, and survived by "a miracle", the miracle being a soul of a Hou-Chi inhabiting her mortal frame), 2002
Mentor: Chey Kravann
The Test: Trial by Influence (though the Yü were rare anywhere in Asia, especially in Southeast Asia, they looked after their own, and Kanya was now the princess of their court; they helped her recuperate from her wounds and helped her remember who she had become; they taught her the basics of Shinma life and appointed her new, old, role within their Court of the Temple City)
Comrades: Vania Natharshan, Nitta Kaede, Zhen Heng, Ki Bo-Ra, Nekoko
Key Event #1: Awe & Wonder (Kanya settled into court life, enjoying the privileges of royalty, while also continuing her bokator training, becoming a local peacekeeper reputed for her fast tongue and faster feet)
Key Event #2: War (while performing her duties in the capital, she was attacked by a street gang with deadly weapons, including machine guns, such that her martial arts alone did not suffice, forcing her to resort to blatant Hou Tan magic that electrocuted and roasted the enemies alive; in the process, she accidentally set the whole residential complex on fire, and while she calmed the elements down, some innocents were killed, and she earned the enmity of the militant son of one family, who became a witch-hunter seeking to destroy "the demon")
Transition: Reassignment (Lord Chey bestowed a mysterious red feather of power upon her; it tugged her to leave the island and indeed the Middle Kingdom and seek its sister-feathers across the world; combined with the lingering guilt of that incident and the hunter seeking "demons", the court directed her to seek out the answers abroad, leading her to Little Asia in Kansas City, where she found the other feather-bearers, as well as the mystic artifact fan to which the feathers connected, all also martial arts masters, and together they established the Five Winds Pagoda hui t'ung in association with the chi'n ta who held the fan)

Remembrance

Magnitude: Less than a century
Details: Kanya was forced to rely on information from her courtmates to fill in vast gaps of her immortal life prior this reincarnation. She recalls only how she and the court did its best to hold the fort, so to speak, especially during the monstrous Khmer Rouge period.
